Blink(1) mk2 USB Notification Light With Dual RGB LEDs!

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

Following up on the RGB lighting theme, I'm featuring yet another cool gadget that uses also RGB LED light technology to notify you of important events on your computer or out in the web. The blink(1) mk2 is an updated version of the blink(1) and has a second RGB LED (both individually controllable). The blink(1) mk2 uses a more powerful micro-controller that works with more USB systems and it's compatibility with the latest USB 3.0 devices.
The blink(1) mk2 comes with a 6-inch USB extended cable while the blink(1) mk2 itself is made of a metal enclosure with a semi-translucent thermoplastic polymer snap cover. Comparing it to the previous version, the blink(1) mk2 has a more symmetric design which means light comes out of both sides making easier to see the light notifications.
The blink(1) mk2 is definitely much more brighter. Because of the extra RGB LED it's like having two blink(1)s in one, which is great when you want a visual indicator for others to see and one for yourself. With the extra RGB LED it means you can also create cool color patterns.

To start using the blink(1) mk2, you need to download the Blink1Control app from blink(1) downloads page and you're set to go. Another thing I like about the updated blink(1) mk2 version is that it is backwards compatible with all blink(1)s coding samples so if you have some existing hacks you can still use those with the blink(1) mk2.
