Kapture Is A One-Tap audio-recording wristband

Thursday, December 10, 2015

Gadget Explained loves featuring wearable technology that is both ingenious and easy to use. The Kapture audio-recording wristband is worn on the wrist and has a similar look and feel to a fitness tracker (akin also to a Star Wars Stormtrooper). Kapture comes with a magnetic USB charger, microphone mesh and swappable grill and adjustable wristband that allows you to customize the look you want.

To start using Kapture, all you need to do is download the Kapture App (from the App Store or Google Play) and pair it with your smartphone. To pair Kapture, you simply connect the magnetic USB cable to transition Kapture to pair mode, and once Kapture is connected, it will vibrate to let you it has connected successfully.

Recording using Kapture is straightforward and it's done by simply tapping it one time (the LED will blink green every seven seconds letting you know Kapture is recording). Saving and transferring an audio file clip to your smartphone is done by firmly tapping Kapture twice. Kapture will vibrate and the LED will change color to solid green to let you know you are in saving and transferring mode. If an audio clip has been saved successful, Kapture's LED will turn solid yellow. Once an audio clip has been transferred successfully, Kapture will vibrate two times and disconnect from your smartphone
Battery life lasts about a whole day and to recharge Kapture you simply attach the magnetic USB cable and connect it to your Laptop/PC or USB plug socket. Kapture's LED will alternate between green and red, turning from red to yellow to green color before finally entering charging mode (LED slowly pulsates red). Full charge takes around 40 minutes and once completed the LED on Kapture will show a solid red light color.

One great feature of the Kapture wristband is that when not needed, it will turn its Bluetooth off to save power. Another good feature is that Kapture has an omnidirectional microphone, which picks up sound within a 5-foot (1.5 m) radius, so you don't have to talk directly into it.

The Verdict
Kapture is worn on the wrist and stands out from other similar audio-recording devices because Kapture is constantly on and always ready to use. Kapture functions as a 60-second buffered loop, which continuously overwrites itself until you tap the device to save a clip. Essentially, Kapture listens to everything and everyone around you and when tapped, it records the previous 60 seconds of what you've just heard.

Kapture is water resistant and it's a quick and easy way to capture an audio moment. You can save a clip on your smartphone within seconds and from there trim the clip to the exact length you want, name it, tag it and share it to whoever you want. Each band can be changed to a new color, along with the removal microphone grill.
