Lexar JumpDrive P20 USB3 Flash Drive With SSD-like Performance!

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

When buying a USB flash drive, how fast it can transfer data is the most important thing! If you are looking for a USB flash drive that performs similarly to a solid-state drive (SSD) but in much smaller form factor, check out the Lexar JumpDrive P20 USB 3.0 stick!
After having reviewed other USB flash drives in the past, the Lexar JumpDrive P20 really stands out for its awesome performance. With almost 400MB/s write speeds, 10GB file transfers can be done in under 2 minutes!
On a Windows PC you can see read speeds of nearly 400 megabytes per second (MB/s), while write speeds are well over 200 megabytes per second (MB/s) , which is much higher than the stated 150 megabytes per second.
when connected to a PC the P20 will show as a removable drive
Compared to the Kingston HyperX and Sandisk Extreme SATA III SSD drives, the performance by the Lexar JumpDrive P20 is very comparable. The SSD drives performance is between 180 megabytes per second (MB/s) write speed and 350 megabytes per second (MB/s) read speeds.
very close to the 400mb/s speeds advertised
Mind you though, different operating systems will see different benchmarking due to CPU processing and other factors. For instance, when benchmarking the Lexar JumpDrive P20 on a MAC computer the read/write speed performance isn't as fast, due partly to Apple USB3 drivers' lagging issues.
As far as looks, the Lexar JumpDrive looks stylish with its metal alloy base and black gloss mirror finish on top. The P20 feels solidly built when holding it in your hands.
The P20 USB3 flash drive weighs only 32 grams and measures 6.4 cm long, 2.2 cm wide and 1 cm thick. The P20 USB3 flash drive also features retractable tip that allows you to slide in and slide out the tip of the USB drive when not in use.
As far as data security, the P20 USB3 flash drive includes EncryptStick Lite software with 256-bit AES encryption to help prevent data corruption and loss of data.
keyring/lanyard loop included
