Anker PowerPort 4 Lite Multi Device Fast Charging Plug

Monday, October 29, 2018

With battery overcharge protection built-in to smartphones nowadays phones are really smart! As long as you use a good quality charger like the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite you can charge multiple devices completely safe and keep them plugged in for extended periods of time.
The Anker PowerPort 4 Lite is a 27W four USB port wall charger that can charge at a maximum of 2.4 amps per USB port. However, since the total output power is 27 watts via 5 voltage, the total amps to split between all four USB ports is 5.4 amps.
This means, if you were to plug in two devices into the  Anker PowerPort 4 Lite, charging at 2.4A each the other two ports would only have 0.6 amps available which is not enough amp power to charge a smartphone.
With 0.6A between two ports, you are only able to charge and provide power to low amp devices such as an Apple watch or TV remote. You can charge two iPhones, an Apple Watch and an iPad at the same time relatively quickly. Anything that charges via USB can be used with the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite.

Being a fast charger, safety is always a concern because of possible overheating so it's good to know that the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite integrates an 11 point safety protection.
Besides the standard surge protection and overload protection that you would expect from a charger, the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite also controls how much voltage and current goes in and out of the charger, as well as automatically matching the correct current to each device connected to the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite.
The Anker PowerPort 4 Lite also integrates a very useful over discharge protection that prevents discharging the battery of your charged devices. What this feature basically does is trickle charging the battery so it's always 100% charged.
Because overcharge protection is also integrated, once the battery reaches full charge it stops delivering charge to increase the longevity of the battery. The Anker PowerPort 4 Lite multi device charging plug uses interchangeable UK and EU plugs which clip in and out.
The Anker PowerPort 4 Lite is intended for use within the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe only. As of 2018, there is no difference between the voltage in the UK and voltage in Europe because both voltages were matched to 230 voltage in 2003. Before 2003, the UK used 240 voltage, while Europe used 220 voltage.
While the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite is fast charging, it does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge so if you're charging a Qualcomm Quick Charge device, you will not see the fast charging benefits of Quick Charge when using the Anker PowerPort 4 Lite because in order for Qualcomm Quick Charge to work both the device and charger must integrate a Quick Charge chip.
With that said, Anker's PowerIQ has similar maximum charging speeds to Qualcomm Quick Charge so PowerIQ is essentially Anker's own fast charging version of Qualcomm.
PowerIQ is neat because it supports devices that aren't supported by Qualcomm Quick Charge such as devices with MediaTek chips, Apple devices with BC1.2 charging, Samsung devices with adaptive fast charging (AFC) and Huawei devices with FCP charging.
If you plan to charge mostly Qualcomm Quick Charge devices, be aware that charging will be at normal speeds.
