Elephone Explorer Full HD Wi-Fi Action Camera

Saturday, March 04, 2017

What is there not to love about this sexy little bit of kit called the action camera? With an action camera (aka action-cam) you can film action while being immersed in the action and create really awesome footage!
With that said, if you can't justify forking out hundreds of pounds for an action camera and want an alternative then, check out the Elecam Explorer action camera!
waterproof casing
The Elecam Explorer action camera is rugged, compact, features a 2-inch LCD display screen, and most importantly, it captures superb quality video and still images and does time lapses too!
The Elecam explorer has the look and feel of an action camera three times its price and features a 170 degree wide angle lens with 12cm infinite focus, which means the image is formed at the focal point of the lens.
micro SD port and micro HDMI port for plugging directly into a TV
The Elecam explorer action cam is very discreet and measures only 6cm long, 3cm wide and 4cm tall. The circumference of the action camera is made of a grippy rubberized layer.
battery compartment on the bottom
Aside from the action camera itself, the Elephone Explorer action cam comes with clear water proof casing that allows you to film action under water up to depths of around 30 meters.
While in the plastic enclosure, you can operate the buttons thanks to springy external button extensions.

As far as the camera chip sensor, the Explorer action cam features the Omnivision OV4689 16.0MP HD image sensor, which captures crisp and clean stills and video of even fast moving objects.

Along with the waterproof enclosure, you also get many mount accessories, as well as a lens cloth, 6 velcro strips and a spare back case cover.
you can use SJcam batteries as replacement batteries (3.7V 1050mAh Li-ion battery)
The default video screen modes are 1080p at 60FPS and 720p at 120FPS, which are modes for capturing slow motion videos.
You can also shoot at 4K/15FPS, 2.7K/30FPS, 1080p/30FPS and 720p/60FPS. The 1080p at 60FPS video resolution is definitely the best compromise for better battery life, increased data storage and no risk of the camera overheating. Below are some still samples taken with the Explorer action cam
The menu screens are self explanatory and easy to navigate. If you own a car dashboard camera, you will find using the Explorer action cam very familiar.
front button doubles up as power button and menu button
Toggling between menu screens is done via four user-controlled buttons. Two of those buttons are located on the right side of the action camera, while the other two buttons are located on the front and top of the action camera respectively.
With the Ele Explorer action cam you also get a companion app that you can use to remotely control the camera from your smartphone and send photos/videos via your home's WiFi network.
The Elecam Explorer action cam menu screens include video menu, photo menu, camera settings.
