Anker PowerDrive+ Speed 2 USB C PD Car Charger with USB A Port

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

Keeping up smartphones and tablets charged up in a car is easy with a power bank and USB car charger but what about laptops?
You can charge a laptop in a car using a 12V DC to AC power inverter, but these electronic devices are bulky and noisy and while they do work you will need at least a 200W power inverter to power a laptop like the MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Newer laptops with Type-C ports like the mentioned Macbook Pro with Retina display come with a 85W power adapter, which is almost twice as much as the old MacBook 45W charger. Luckily, there are car charger solutions such as the Roav Viva Alexa car charger or the Anker PowerDrive+ Speed 2 PD car charger that lets you charge Type-C devices such as the new MacBook, Nintendo Switch and Dell XPS 13 from the comfort of your car.
Aside from the Type-C power delivery port on the PowerDrive+ Speed 2 car charger, there is also a USB Type A port with PowerIQ 2.0 Fast Charge technology built-in that lets you charge 25% of battery in just 15 minutes via an OEM Apple Lightning to USB-C cable an iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, as well as fast adaptive charge phones such as the Google Pixel, Samsung S9, S8 and S8+.
The PowerDrive+ Speed 2 PD car charger works with 12V batteries and and 24V batteries. The USB C Power Delivery output is 5V=3A, 9V=3A, 1.5V=2A and 20V=1.5A; while the USB PowerIQ port outputs 5V=3A, 9V=2A and 12V=1.5A.
using Volta Charger magnetic connection cable
PowerIQ 2.0 is compatible with Quick Charge 3.0 devices (at 18W) for a total output of 48W. This means, the PowerDrive+ Speed 2 PD car charger is capable of charging a Macbook or Macbook Pro (without the touch bar) and a Quick Charge-compatible device at the same time.
Size is also important so the 30 grams compact size of the PowerDrive+ Speed 2 power delivery car charger really seals the deal as it just plugs into the receptacle of a car or truck.
The PowerDrive+ Speed 2 is virtually the same size as the PowerDrive 2 Elite car charger but without the carbon fibre textured effect.
the PowerDrive+ Speed 2 measures 63mm deep and 35mm by 35mm diameter
Build quality is solid and sleak thanks to black TPU thermoplastic and a blue led ring which looks really cool. Buy it
