QacQoc GN30H USBC Digital AV Multiport Hub w/ Pass Through Charging

Monday, July 30, 2018

The convenience of a thin laptop comes with a big sacrifice and that is lack of useable ports! As beautiful as the MacBook laptop is, if you own the single port MacBook you will need to purchase an additional hub adapter to do anything useful like connecting up to a HDMI monitor or plugging in a USB peripheral.
Apple does not include a digital AV multiport adapter with the new MacBooks so, you are left forking out a hefty price for an Apple branded multiport adapter which does feature a USBC port but it isn't "pass through", meaning it does not deliver power through the hub; hence you won't be able to use it to charge your MacBook nor any other gadgets.
Luckily, MacBook users are not limited to Apple multiport adapters as there are third party companies that sell digital AV multiport adapters like the GN33A2 adapter and the QacQoc GN30H USB-C hub.
The QacQoc digital AV multiport hub, not only costs substantially less than the Apple adapter hub but it offers the all important "pass through charging" with a power delivery output between 5V 0.5A and 5V 1.5A. This allows you to charge any USBC devices like the ChromeBook Pixel, and non-USBC devices like the iPhone when using a USBC to Lightning cable conversion.
So functional and useful is the QacQoc digital AV multiport hub that you can take with you on your travels, making it a superb USB adapter solution for mobile setup.
The QacQoc USB-C Power Delivery hub features one USBC port, three USB 3.0 ports with speeds up to 5Gbps for fast file transfer in seconds and a HDMI audio/video output port for connectivity to a HD display monitor or portable projector.

While the QacQoc GN30N hub is designed for MacBook (MacOS X 10.2 and above), it also supports  Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Linux operating systems. The GN30N USBC hub is compatible with Macbook 2015, Macbook 2016, Hua Wei Matebook 2016, Google Chromebook 2016, Macbook Pro 2016, HP Spectre. The GN30H hub adapter also work with the Dell XPS 12 but does not support power delivery.
SD card and micro SD card slots
You also get an SD card slot, a micro SD card slot and a Gigabit Ethernet Port for connecting to an Ethernet network. The HDMI port supports 4k at 30Hz which is perfect for low frames per second media (30fps or less) like movies.
measures 105mm long, 48.5mm wide and 11.5mm thick
The QaQoc multiport drive runs pretty smooth though MacBook users with certain operating systems will need to download an additional driver for Ethernet. If you are running MacOS X 10.6 you need to download the AX88179_178A Driver. If you are running MacOS 10.6 to 10.13 you need to download the 0011-RTUNICv1.0.16 Driver. This is because Apple introduced a new security feature with the MacOS 10.13 that requires user approval before installing new third-party drivers.
When installing, you will see a "System Extension Blocked" error message prompt. Just click OK, and then ‘allow’ the driver install process to complete from the ‘security & privacy’ settings in system preferences”.

With the QacQoc GN30H digital AV multiport hub you can simultaneously transfer data and charge devices, which is neat. Even neater, it's the integrated power delivery in the QacQoc digital AV multiport hub which automatically regulates the power voltage between 14.5V 2A and 20V 3A.

The QacQoc hub can be both bus-powered and self-powered when connected to an external power supply and provide power up to 5V 1.5A to every port. If bus-powered, the QacQoc hub draws all its power from your computer, providing 5V 0.5A to each port.
