This In-Wheel Motor Skateboard Can Go Uphill at 20MPH!

Thursday, December 17, 2015

Who would've thought of an electric skateboard with motors inside the wheels, right? This cool electric skateboard, called Monolith, is certainly going to take the electric skateboard world by storm because of its clever design and nifty features. For one, this electric skateboard is very powerful and has a huge top speed for a skateboard of this kind. Can you imagine going up a hill at 20 mph?

The main features of the Monolith skateboard are the swappable battery pack, auxiliary USB ports, remote control (for powering and braking) and in-wheel motors. Nothing binds the wheel up so the Monolith allows you to coast just like you would on a normal skate. The way this skateboard is powered is really clever. Instead of having a motor with belts and gears outside of the wheel, they integrated everything inside the wheel itself so it looks really clean and it's more lightweight.
They guys behind the Monolith had to create an entire new technology and custom make every aspect of the design of the skateboard, which makes the Monolith not your typical run-of-the-mill longboard. The replaceable battery pack and how it's stored is also very neat (I don't think there's anything similar out in the market). Essentially, as soon as you start running low on battery you can swap the old battery with a new one, so you could easily have 2 or 3 of these battery packs on you to keep you going throughout the day! Also, if your phone runs out of battery you can connect it to the board and recharge it that way.

Another cool feature of the Inboard Monolith skateboard is that it has an app, which gives you complete control of the electric skate experience. You can customize your speeds, accelerations, connect with other riders and even recap on your latest session. The Inboard Monolith is certainly going to shape the future of electric skates!
