VertiGo Robotic Car That Climbs Walls Like A Gecko!

Thursday, December 31, 2015

Just when you think you have seen all, Disney comes out of the woodwork...and just in time for the New Year! The cool invention cleverly named VertiGo can transition from ground to wall and climb a wall just like a spider or gecko would! VertiGo is truly an amazing piece of robotic engineering and you will think so when you see it in action in the video below.
Vertigo looks very much like the bullet-proof remote control car/drone hybrid featured on Gadget Explained last month. VertiGo the robot has four wheels and it's able to climb a wall just like a gecko thanks to two tiltable propellers mounted on top that provide thrust onto the wall, thus pushing the robot down while it moves freely along the flat wall. Thrust is applied both towards the wall using the rear propeller, and in an upward direction using the front propeller, resulting in a flip onto the wall.

What's really amazing is seeing VertiGo transitioning from the ground to a wall and back again, as if by magic. According to the makers behind VertiGo, it's the two propellers which enable the floor-to-wall transition. Here is VertiGo the robotic gecko that climbs walls in action:
