ISOtunes PRO 2.0 Bluetooth Earphones With Noise Protection Earplugs

Friday, February 14, 2020

A noisy, loud environment can, certainly, be a nuisance especially when you want to listen to music or talk on the phone. If you cannot get away from the source of the noise because your line of work requires that you make or have to surround yourself in noise (i.e. using a jackhammer to break up concrete at a construction site), the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 might be the solution you need.
The ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are bluetooth earphones equipped with noise protection earplugs and built-in noise canceling microphone so, you can listen to music and talk on the phone without having to stop your work progress.
The microphone is good enough for clear voice calls, although you may sound distant when talking to someone. This could be due to a couple of factors. One the microphone gain set lower than normal to compensate for noisy environments. The second reason could because of the way the remote/microphone lays on the side of the neck, slightly muffling the microphone.
The earplugs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 27dB, which means if you are exposed to, say, 130dB noise levels (jackhammer noise), the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 earplugs effectively reduce the 130dB noise level down to 110dB. Noises over 80dB is considered unhealthy for the ears though.
If you already use noise earmuffs for work, the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 earplugs will be a useful addition to further cut down the noise. And, because the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 have the low profile of earbuds, you will be able to wear them under noise earmuffs.
Battery life is very respectable at 16 hours of playtime on 50% volume and, while connected to a bluetooth 5.0 device. You won't need too much volume though, thanks to the superb isolation.
The bluetooth 5.0 chip that is integrated in the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 also supports multi-point pairing for up to two devices, which means you can have the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 connected to two different devices at the same time, which is something you cannot do with the vast majority of earphones.
The ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are IP67 dust, water, and sweat proof resistant, which is perfect if your work requires working outdoors no matter the weather. The ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are, no doubt, bulkier than the average pair of bluetooth earphones but, they are more lightweight (16.5 grams) than they look.
As far as audio sound performance, the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 integrate a volume limiter that limits the volume to 85dB, which is still high enough for a good sound. The bass response is, by far, the best you will experience on a pair of earbuds, thanks to the fantastic isolation provided by the noise reduction earplugs. Your favorite bass song will never sound the same!
Music and calls are controlled via the inline microphone, which lets you adjust volume, skip tracks, answer/end calls and, even control your voice assistant. The inline 3-button remote does the basics you would expect and also integrates the battery, which takes 2.5 hours to fully charge.
Charging time is 2.5 hours and can be done via a computer USB port and/or power bank. That said, while the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 have volume protection limiter, they do not seem to be equipped with an overvoltage protection limiter. Anything above 5 volts can apparently damage the earphones, which means you cannot use a quick charger/ fast charger.
The ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are earphones with over-ear hook style so, the cable goes over the top of the ear. This type of earphone wearing style is typically found in sports earbuds to prevent earphones from falling out.
Silicone ear wings are another popular method for keeping earphones secure in the ears by locking a bit of rubber against the earlobe. True wireless earphones typically use the ear wing method since true wireless earbuds don't have any wires. That said, many sports earphones also use ear wings to provide stability.
Ear wings are, probably, more comfortable on the ears than having to run a cable behind and over the ears. That said, if maximum security is what you are after, the over-ear hook style does provide this. The ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are designed with manual laborers in mind who work with or around machines so, the over-ear hook style is the safest method.
The cable sleeve section that goes around the ears is made of a thick, flexible rubber material. There is no memory wire so, the earhook cable sleeve cannot be bent into place. The rest of the earphone cable measures 53cm long. The earphone cable is plenty long but, it can be managed via the included cinch, which easily slides along the cable. The cable itself has a round shape, as opposed to flat (tape shaped).
In terms of audio performance, there isn't a noticeable difference between round cables and flat ones. What matters more with earphone cables is how well they can withstand premature wear/breakage at the connecting joints. In this department, the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are solidly built, thanks to the chrome-plated brass ear stem
The shell enclosure of the ISOtunes PRO 2.0 earphones is made of soft rubberized plastic, while the threaded nozzle tips are made of magnetic metal. The front side of the earphones has a small ISOtunes logo badge made of aluminum.
The included ear tips that come with ISOtunes PRO 2.0 have inner threading, allowing you to screw the ear tips on the threaded nozzle.
While screw-on ear tips are not as convenient as sliding ones, the screw-on design provides the added security of never losing the ear tips.
Four additional sets of ear tips are included with ISOtunes PRO 2.0, including a set of standard, non-noise reduction triple flange silicone ear tips. The foam tips have all 27dB NRR noise reduction rating and come in various sizes (extra small, small, medium, large). It makes sense that most ear tips included are foam tips since foam provides better isolation than silicone; hence why foam is used in music studio booths.
As far as backing, ISOtunes PRO 2.0 are NIOSH-approved and conforms to the OSHA standards for construction work. Included is also a 30-day return policy and 1-year warranty, as well as a micro USB cable, 2 cable management clips, a shirt clip and, a hard shell carrying case.
