So after many years of shaving with a cartridge razor, I am finally giving double edge razor shaving a go!
Instead of multiple blades, like cartridge razors have, double edge razors only use one single blade. The Rockwell 6S I'm testing out today is made in the USA and has six levels of adjustability to fine tune the closeness and smoothness of the shave.
My first impressions of the ROCKWELL 6S double edge safety razor are great right off the bat. The ROCKWELL 6S has a nice weight and feel to it thanks to its stainless steel construction and knurled grip handle.
One outstanding feature of the ROCKWELL 6S double edge safety razor is the flippable plate system. The ROCKWELL 6S flippable plates fit all six sizes of adjustability onto just three plates, allowing you to select a different blade gap by simply turning the plate over.
Each size adjustment has a different angle and gap and each of the three plates is clearly marked with the corresponding size: R1 (size 1), R3 (size 3), R2 (size 2), R4 (size 4) and R5 (size 5) and R6 (size 6).
The closest shave you can get with the ROCKWELL 6S adjustable double edge safety razor is with R1 (size 1), which gives you a close shave of 0.38 mm. R6 (size 6) gives you a close shave of 1.12 mm.
Lower sizes are great for sensitive skin and fine facial hair, while higher sizes are best for hardier skin and coarse facial hair.
