Epson XP-15000 Expression Photo HD A3+ Photo Printer

Wednesday, April 25, 2018

A3+ photo printers are ideal for someone who is into their photography or someone who takes part in fine art competitions and exhibitions.
For the best quality photo printing, you want a quality photo printer such as the Epson XP-15000 expression photo HD which produces prints up to A3+ size in a variety of papers including regular letter sized paper.
As the Epson XP-15000 A3+ photo printer can handle the larger A3+, ledger sized paper you can print large spreadsheets and make booklets and restaurant menus with ease. The A3+ large size is also perfect for printing engineering documents as you will be able to enlarge diagrams to a readable size.
Talking about size, it's good to know about the different printer sizes you can buy, including the standard A4 printer (8.27 × 11.69 inches paper size), A3 printer (11.69 x 16.53 inches paper size) and the A3+ printer which handles 13 x 19 inches paper size. Then, there is the A2 and upward printer size which are ideal for producing work for sale.

With printer size, the higher you go the more reliable the printer components get; hence why you would want to get an A3+ and upward printer size if you're looking for long term durability. The Epson XP-15000 A3+ printer is larger than the XP-422 all-in-one printer but it's relatively compact for an A3+ printer plus it's WiFi capable too.

The Epson XP-15000 A3+ printer gives you a nice feel of professional film printing, especially when using the automatic A4 double sided (duplex) printing feature which is pretty cool because you don't have to manually turn the paper over yourself as the printer rollers reverse the rolling action backwards so the paper gets fed back automatically to print on the other side.
As mentioned earlier, the XP-15000 A3+ printer features Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and Epson Connect services for printing photos and documents remotely which come handy especially if you plan to tuck the printer away somewhere inconspicuous.
The Epson Connect services include the Epson iPrint, Email Print and Remote Print Driver which lets you print files on a remote printer over the Internet from a computer connected to the network.
Another useful feature that you get with the Epson XP-15000 printer is a LAN and an Ethernet port so you can setup the printer in both a wired and wireless network.
While the Epson XP-15000 printer hasn't got an SD card slot, it integrates Wireless PictBridge. This means, you can print images from a digital camera, camcorder or mobile phone memory card as long as they are PictBridge compatible devices.
Once a PictBridge compatible device is connected to the Epson XP-15000 printer, the print options show up on the LCD of the device so, you can select settings such as print size, layout, media type and date. You can print one or all images stored on the memory card of the device.
When using automatic double-sided printing, you can only select plain paper, Letter size or A4 paper size. Automatic double-sided printing doesn't work on glossy, thick, and on certain matte papers so make sure the paper you buy supports automatic double-sided printing.
paper support trays on far back
The XP15000 A3+ printer has two paper trays, one front-loading paper tray that can hold up to 250 A4 sheets of paper and a rear paper tray that can hold up to 50 A3+ sheets of paper.

The output tray that catches the print outs is motorised so the output tray opens and closed automatically whenever you print.

The Epson XP-15000 printer can print out an average of 9 Pages Per Minute (PPM) in black and 9  PPM in color.
As far as the XP-15000 printer's construction, it has a thermoplastic ergonomic body exterior with piezoelectric print head built-in to it that pushes ink through 1260 nozzles (180 nozzles for black ink and 180 nozzles for each color ink).

Setting up the XP-15000 printer, including calibration takes approximately 15 minutes. Printing on matte paper using "best quality" takes roughly 3 minutes and the photo printing results are quite impressive.
The photo print quality has a lot to do with the addition of red and grey ink colors which give photo printouts a nice beautiful vibrance and saturation with a nice distinction between the colors and without the presence of banding or white lines that sometimes you can get in printouts.

The superb printing quality of the Epson XP-15000 A3+ photo printer is also thanks to the 1.5 pl (picoliters) ink droplet size it can print which allows the XP-15000 printer to properly mix light color shades. With that said, the XP-15000 printer can also print larger droplet size of ink which is perfect for darker colors.

The Epson XP-15000 A3+ photo printer measures 479mm‎ wide, 370mm deep and 159 mm high. The total weight is 8.5 kg.

You can use the XP-15000 A3+ printer with Mac OS X (10.6.8 or later) and Windows operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows XP SP3, XP Professional x64 Edition SP2.

The XP15000 printer also has a high 1440 DPI which is an advantage to have in a printer if you want to get more color shades and better blending from the different color inks. The XP-15000 printer comes also with other features such as red eye removal and photo enhance.
Being able to directly print onto a CD or DVD is pretty cool as you can personalize your CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs without having to use sticky labels which can peel off and get stuck in the CD/DVD drive. Make sure they are inkjet printable discs as these type of discs have an inkjet ink permeable coating on the non-recording surface.
Whether you’re printing in colour or black and white, the Epson XP-15000 does a good job at both thanks to the individual Claria Photo HD 6-colour inks which are high-quality ink that can last 300 years in a photo album without fading away.
Aside from being a superb photo printer, the XP-15000 performs well when printing regular documents so you can use it as an every day printer thanks to fast print speeds.
The auto power on feature activates the XP-15000 printer and automatically opens the output tray when a print job is sent. You can have the printer enter sleep mode and/or auto power off automatically if it is not used for a specified period of time. Sleep mode, which turns off the LCD screen, and auto power off can be found via Settings > Basic Settings.
The main menu icons include Maintenance, Settings, WiFi, Help, Ethernet, WiFi Direct and noise volume which lets you enable quiet mode to reduce printing noise.
The Help icon lets you access troubleshooting and "How To" should you need further information on how to use the Epson XP-15000 printer.

Wireless security is always important so it's good to know that the Epson XP-15000 A3+ printer features wireless LAN security (WLAN) that prevents anyone from gaining access to the printer.
The standard wireless security you get in most wireless devices are Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) so it's great that the XP-15000 A3+ printer features several encryption methods, including WEP 64 Bit, WEP 128 Bit, WPA PSK (TKIP) and WPA PSK (AES).
Inside the box, you find a "getting started" guide, warranty information (12 months Carry-in), cleaning shit for dislodging jammed paper, Epson Print CD  software, power cable.
