Akasa Noir 2SX USB 3.1 Type C Enclosure For SATA SSD HDD Drives!

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Having a 2.5" 120GB SATA drive laying around. I figured to put it to good use rather than let it collect dust, and what better way to use an old SATA drive than with a USB 3.1 Type C enclosure such as Akasa's Noir 2SX!
compatible with SATA I, SATA II & SATA III solid-state drives & hard disk drives
The Noir 2SX is a brushed aluminium enclosure that converts a 7mm or 9.5mm high solid-state drive (SSD) or hard disk drive (HDD) with SATA data connectors to Type C connector using the USB 3.1 standard.
 backward compatible with USB 3.0 & 2.0
Akasa's Noir 2SX SATA enclosure is bus powered, which means your SATA SSD or HDD drive will be powered when connected to your computer or laptop to transfer data.

The data transfer from the Noir 2SX Type C enclosure to your PC or laptop can be done via Type-C to Type-C cable or via the included Type-C to Type-A cable.

The transfer rate you get with the Noir 2SX enclosure depends on the USB standard and type of connector cable that you use.
The included Type-C to Type-A cable uses the "USB 3.1 Gen 2" standard which gives you a "SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps" transfer rate (10 Gigabits per second). If using USB 3.0 or USB 2.0, the transfer rate is 5 Gigabits per second and 480 Megabits per second respectively.
compatible with Windows 7/8.X/10 & Mac OS X 10.3 and higher
To access the enclosure, you simply remove two small screws freeing the electronic board which has built-in an ASMedia single chip (ASM1351) solution that bridges the USB3.1 to Serial ATA host interface.
