Alcatel 3T 10 Audio Station Bluetooth Speaker 2000mAh Power Bank Model 8088X

Wednesday, February 05, 2020

Smartphones are, no doubt, the most popular handheld devices around but, for multimedia consumption nothing beats a tablet, especially a 10-inch display tablet like the Alcatel 3T 10 that comes with its own dedicated audio station!
The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet is designed to fit right on top of the included Alcatel bluetooth speaker via a mount holder built-in to the top of the speaker.
The mount holder has a quick-access design that allows you to slide the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet in and out of the holder, while keeping the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet fairly secure.
The folding mount mechanism is also aided by two hole openings on either side of the pogo pin charging contacts located at the bottom of the tablet to preven the tablet from sliding out.
Because of the weight of the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet (440 grams), the Alcatel Bluetooth speaker integrates a long push-open kick-stand designed to support the weight of the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet. The kickstand also doubles as a cover to conceal the connectivity ports.
The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet has a 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio display, which is the same aspect ratio found in older laptops and computer monitors. If you have a laptop or computer monitor made between 2003 and 2006 it, most likely, has a 16:10 aspect ratio.
While most newer laptops and computer displays, these days, have a 16:9 aspect ratio, the 16:10 aspect ratio is still excellent on the Alcatel 3T 10-inch tablet, thanks to being also widescreen so, it's perfect for watching movies and playing games.
That said, despite the 16:10 aspect ratio of the Alcatel 3T 10, the rear and front camera only support a 4:3 native aspect ratio, which is probably due to the maximum native 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200) of the camera, which can be interpolated to 5 megapixel (2560 x 1920). Interpolation, essentially, scales up the image, meaning the quality of the image won't be as good as with a native 5 megapixel camera such as the Alcatel 1 Android Go.
If you plan to print in 4-inch by 6-inch, the 2 megapixel resolution should be good enough and, you can take fairly good images with fairly accurate color reproduction under the right lighting conditions like in a bright sunny day.
Low light performance is average due to the small f/2.8 aperture and 1.65µm pixel size. With only a native 2 megapixel though, you won't be able to zoom in or crop the image without further degrading the quality of the image. The large 800 x 1280 pixel resolution of screen does allow you to preview photos in full screen, which is nice.
As far as video recording, the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet supports 720p resolution at 30fps. This means, video recording is on par with a 720p webcam so, good for skyping, live chatting or live streaming on YouTube via the front facing camera. For anything else like everyday video recording, video footage is surprisingly good despite the lack of image stabilization.
Like with all tablets though, the camera performance is last on the list of features since productivity is the main reason for getting a tablet in the first place. With the Alcatel 3T 10, you will be able to get a lot of work done and swiftly, thanks to the 10-point touch capacitive screen.
The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet is equipped with a 1.28GHz quad-core processor, 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM, which means you can not only browse apps and the internet smoothly, but also play very demanding 3D games (PUBG and COD Mobile) at a decent frame-rate. The 16GB ROM storage is good, although 32% of the storage (5GB) is already used right out of the box so, you only get 11GB of free storage available.
The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet is great for web browsing (Google Assistant comes pre-installed) too, as well as giving presentations and watching films on a train or plane as an in-flight entertainment system. While audio isn't the core strength of tablets, the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet does come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a snazzy bluetooth speaker that is specifically designed for the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet.
The bluetooth speaker, which is Alcatel branded, turns the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet into a small audio powerhouse, charging and beefing up the tablet's 10W front-facing speakers (2x 5W), which sound pretty good but, the bass response is certainly better with the audio station speaker.
The Alcatel Bluetooth speaker has an internal 2000mAh battery that doubles as a useful power bank to recharge the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet. That said, you won't be able to fully charge it since the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet has a larger 4080mAh battery.
You should be able to, at least, charge the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet to 50% battery level. The tablet does have a regular micro USB port too so, you can also charge the tablet that way.
The Alcatel 3T 10 has decent battery performance, allowing you to get at least 4 hours of use from a Skype or Whatsapp video call. Without being used, the Alcatel 3T 10 battery can hold charge for 28 days. There is no fast charge or quick charge support though, which means fully charging the battery takes 4 hours.
The back of the tablet is made of plastic with a carbon-like texture finish. On the backside, you will also find a quick-release cover, containing two slots for a nano SIM card and micro SD card, which supports up to 128GB.
Whichever micro SD card you put in, you can then use to insert into the micro SD card slot on the Bluetooth speaker audio station to play audio without wireless connection. The dimensions of the Alcatel 3T 10 tablet are 26cm wide, 15.6cm tall and 8.95mm thick.
If you plan to do a lot of skyping, presentation recordings or conference calls, you will love the Alcatel 3T 10 and its three far-field microphones (3 meter long distance pickup), one of which is located above the power button. The other microphone is located in the middle section of the frame, below the volume rocker. The third one is located on the opposite frame.
The Alcatel audio station bluetooth speaker is fully functional too so, it lets you control calls, as well as volume right from the speaker. The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet and audio station speaker connect via Bluetooth 4.2. You can get a solid 7 hours of play time on 50% volume and fully charge the unit in 3.5 hours.
The audio station speaker is covered with fabric material with raised, rubber buttons on top. There is a long rubber strip on the bottom of the speaker. The total dimensions of the speaker are 18.5cm long and 6.7cm in diameter.
You can enable and disable touch sounds, charging sounds, screen-locking sounds, dial pad tones and power on sounds.
The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet screen has good brightness level and features the useful Night Light mode, which is an Android feature found on Android 7.1. 1 and higher that lets you reduce the blue light of the display to make reading the display easier on the eyes at night and more relaxing.
The Alcatel 3T 10 tablet runs on Android 9.0 so, it also benefits from Night Light effect so, you can also control the intensity of the Night Light. The Night Light effect is only supported by Android devices running Android 8.0 and higher. Check out the TCL 10L phone review and the Alcatel 3X 2020 smartphone.
