Redragon Azure K652 Review MacBook Inspired 75% Keyboard

Thursday, May 18, 2023

Step into a world where innovation and functionality converge, where the Redragon Azure K652 takes center stage as a luminary in the dynamic realm of mechanical keyboards!

The Redragon Azure K652 is a wireless mechanical keyboard with 84 low-profile keys, offering a smooth and responsive typing experience. The term "low-profile keys" refers to keys that have a shorter height compared to traditional mechanical keys. This design provides a sleeker and more compact keyboard layout.

The keyboard's 75% compact layout eliminates the numpad, which is the numeric keypad usually found on the right side of full-sized keyboards. By removing the numpad, the Redragon Azure K652 provides more space for mouse movement, making it ideal for gamers and users who value a larger mouse area. However, it still includes essential function keys and control keys for convenience.

Compared to other keyboards, the Redragon Azure K652 stands out with its tri-mode connection technology. This means it offers three different ways to connect: USB-C wired, Bluetooth 3.0/5.0, and 2.4GHz wireless modes. The availability of multiple connection options enhances the user experience and provides flexibility for different usage scenarios. The Azure K652 integrates two plastic switches on the side for switching between Windows and Mac keyboard layout and got controlling the connectivity mode.

The Redragon Azure K652 keyboard comes with low-profile keycaps and low profile Redragon Outemu brown 3-pin switches. You can also get them in Outemu red, Outemu blue and Outemu low profile red. The keycaps are made of doubleshot ABS plastic with transparent fonts to allow the RGB lighting to shine through. The low-profile design ensures a lower typing height, which can be more ergonomic and helps protect the wrists from strain. This is in contrast to regular laptop keyboards that often have a mushier feel and lack the satisfying tactile feedback of mechanical keyboards.

The Redragon Azure K652 MacBook style colorway with different shades of grey is nicely complemented by vibrant orange accents. This color combination gives the keyboard a visually appealing industrial-style look that can enhance any desktop setup. Checking the battery level of the keyboard is made easy through the FN + Right Shift combination. This allows you to monitor the remaining battery capacity, ensuring they are aware when it's time to recharge. The number keys 1-3 will display a red color when the battery goes below 30%.

The keyboard comes with software support, which can be download from Redragon website. The software gives you access to macros, profile selection and RGB effects, which can also be controlled directly from the K652 keyboard. You can change effects, speed and brightness. To change from dynamic RGB to static color, select FN + PgDn. The Azure K652 battery life performance is longest with RGBs turned off. Via 2.4Ghz wireless, you can achieve around 22 hours (with RGBs OFF) and 12 hours with RGBs on. Bluetooth battery life is around 6 hours.

The Redragon Azure K652 has an aluminum frame and top plate and weighs 497 grams. Dimensions are 12.5 x 5.0 inches (32cm long x 12.5cm deep). With the feet risers, the height of the keyboard is 3cm (top row of keys) and 2cm (bottom row of keys). Without the feet risers, the height of the top row of keys is 2.5cm.

In conclusion, the Redragon Azure K652 Keyboard combines functionality (with its multiple connectivity options), aesthetics, and affordability, making it suitable for both Mac and Windows users. You can choose between different low profile Outemu switches: red, blue and brown. The low profile feel may not suit everyone's typing style but works well for gaming.
