Jabra Speak2 75 Review Speakerphone For Conference Calls and Music

Thursday, June 29, 2023

Hybrid work environments can contribute to improved employee well-being by providing flexibility, reducing commuting stress, and increasing job satisfaction. The Jabra Speak2 75 is the latest addition to the Speak series of professional speakerphone solutions aimed to address work setups where employees have the flexibility to work both remotely and in a physical office.

One notable feature of the Speak2 75 speakerphone, it's its compatibility with both iOS and Android smartphones/tablets and Mac and PC computers. You can connect the speakerphone to your computer using the supplied Jabra Bluetooth adapter, while simultaneously connecting it to your mobile device. This versatility ensures seamless connectivity across devices.

In terms of wireless range, the Speak2 75 speakerphone is capable of up to a 30m/98ft wireless range during softphone calls or while listening to music. This provides freedom of movement and flexibility in a home or workspace. The bluetooth chip supports absolute volume. After connection, the speakerphone bluetooth led light stays lit up. Battery life is around 30 hours talktime and 16 hours musuic playtime. Charging time is 2.5 hours with fast charge suppor.
The Speak2 75 speakerphone is available in two versions - Microsoft Teams and Unified Communication (UC) for platforms like Google Meet or Zoom. Which one is better? It depends on the platform of course but, the Microsoft Teams variant is plug-and-play, providing automatic audio device selection and a dedicated Microsoft Teams button for easy access to meeting controls and notifications.

The Speak2 75 measures 13cm in diameter and 3.5cm high and doesn't come with a detachable cable. Instead, it uses a fixed cable designed to reel around the bottom of the speakerphone for neatly storage. Despite having a plastic body and fabric grille mesh, the Speak2 75 has some heft to it (460 grams) that makes the speakerphone feel durable enough to handle a work environment.

The Speak2 75 speakerphone has a rubberized bottom and IP64 protection against water and dust. The built-in cable is made of rubber and measures 70cm long. The top rim of the speakerphone houses a volume led bar indicator, as well as 7 on-board capacitive touch buttons with tone feedback. One of those buttons (smart button) can be disabled or remapped via the Jabra mobile app as play/pause, voice assistant and speed dial.

The main feature of the Speak2 75 is 360 degree call quality pickup, which is superbly delivered via 4 beamforming microphones with full duplex audio and noise reduction for background noise removal. The result is clear and natural sounding professional call quality on both sides, coupled with Voice Level Normalization, which automatically amplifies everyone's voice to an even level regardless of speaking volume.

During calls, the volume led ring indicator doubles also as a voice pickup level indicator, which lets you assess the quality of your voice in real-time. The mute function syncs when using a softphone desktop application such as MS Teams but doesn't sync when using the MS Teams mobile app, which means mute only works in the speakerphone and not in the mobile app.

In terms of volume output, it is loud enough for outdoor calls and plenty for music playing on a desktop computer. The Speak2 75 supports AAC audio, equalizer, customizable sound presets, mute button, auto-reconnect and auto-power off. It is super versatile solution that can be carried around for on the go conference calling.
