Redragon H510 ZEUS X Wireless Review Versus H510 ZEUS-X Wired Version

Monday, April 03, 2023

Meet Redragon's new H510 ZEUS X Wireless (3rd generation). Lightweight wireless/wired gaming headset design, featuring 7.1 audio and fabric earpads!

Style wise, the H510 ZEUS X wireless version is based on the 2nd generation H510 ZEUS X USB wired version. Same flat metal yoke design and same oval shaped rubbery earcups with exposed fabric braid cabling. Functionality wise, the H510 ZEUS X wireless s more versatile. It comes with a detachable cable and supports wired and 2.4Ghz wireless audio for wireless PC gaming, making the H510 ZEUS X wireless more appealing than the wired version, which has a fixed audio cable and no wireless input.

The Redragon H510 ZEUS X wireless headphones are equipped with 50mm diameter drivers with 60 ohm impedance and capable of up to 16-bit 48kHz audio resolution. The H510 ZEUS X wireless headphones features several physical buttons on-board both earcups for controlling various functions, including volume, virtual 7.1 sound, power on/off and RGB effects, which consist of 5 static single colors (blue, green, purple and red) and OFF mode. There is no color changing/dynamic effects like on the wired H510 ZEUS X version, which has two RGB zones. The wireless H510 ZEUS X version only has 1 RGB zone (the Redragon logo).

The physical buttons are made of plastic, have a tactile clicky actuation and, they are nicely spaced out so, they're easy to locate. The H510 ZEUS X wired version uses an inline remote for button control. As well as buttons, the H510 ZEUS X wireless headset has a USB-C port and a deeply recessed square 3.5 aux port, which provides a strong connection. Being a square plug, it does have the downside of not being compatible with thicker plug 3.5mm audio cables. The USB-C port is for charging only (no audio). The H510 ZEUS X wireless charging time is 3 hours with around 17 hours of battery life.

The boom arm microphone is also non-removable like on the Zeus X wireless version. The boom arm mic is 12cm long and made of flexible rubber - similar to the Redragon H848 Ire Pro but doesn't stay in one place, although you can bend the boom arm mic away from the mouth. It's nice that a foam windscreen is included as this helps minimize some background noise. The microphone capsule has the same omni directional pick-up, although the performance is slightly better with the Zeus X wireless version when using the 3.5 aux connection. Via 2.4Ghz wireless connection, the microphone quality isn't a crisp.

In terms of audio performance, the H510 ZEUS X Wireless drivers are more sensitive so, the wireless version sounds louder than the H510 ZEUS X Wired version. Latency is also lower and audio overall better with the ZEUS X Wireless when using the 3.5mm wired connection.

Comfort-wise, the H510 ZEUS X wireless headset is very comfortable and lightweight (297 grams) to wear. The wireless version fits better on the head than the wired version, mainly because the wireless Zeus X doesn't have the heavy USB cable and inline remote pulling down, which can be annoying. Not too much clamping force either, breathable and quality foam padding across the entire length of the headset, which is nice as this help relief pressure points/hotspots.

The H510 ZEUS X wireless headband underside foam padding and earcups padding are covered with honeycomb fabric material. This makes the earcups a lot more breathable than PU leather earpads. The foam padding feels like memory foam - it is firm and springy. The top side of the headband is padded too and covered with PU leather Redragon branding. The earcups on the H510 ZEUS X wireless (just like the wired version) do not rotate but have plenty of tilting motion and a notched slider band for head height adjustment. The yoke and earcups are attached via plastic pivot hinges.

The H510 ZEUS X wireless earcups have a squared off inner hole, which is large and with good depth to accommodate the ears. Dimensions of the inner hole: 4.5cm wide x 6cm high x 2.5cm deep. The 50mm  drivers are protected with a thin layer of fabric foam with a heat printed Redragon logo in the centre.

The audio cable that is included with the H510 ZEUS X wireless headphones is a 2 meter long semi-stiff fabric male to male 3.5mm cable with square plugs. There is also a velcro cable strap, stickers and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable (1.5 meters) included.
