Unihertz Luna Review Nothing Inspired Android Phone With RGB Glass Back Panel

Monday, May 08, 2023

The Unihertz Luna marries the best of two worlds - the sleek and minimalist design of the Nothing phone and styling of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, to create a unique and impressive Android phone. Luna features a stunning RGB glass back panel and night vision camera that sets it apart from other smartphones in the market.

The Unihertz Luna is made with a thick zinc alloy metal frame and glass back. The 6.8 inch Panda screen is designed with a beautiful curve, featuring rounded corners that are contained within a standard rectangle.

Luna measures 16.5cm long x 7.5cm wide x 1cm thick and weighs 300 grams. Luna is 230 grams lighter than the Unihertz Tank and 60 grams heavier than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The included clear case weighs 31 grams. The backside of the phone isn't flat due to the camera bump, which protrudes a bit, causing the phone to rock on the desk. Even with the included case, the phone still rocks on a desk.

The Panda glass 6.8-inch display on the Unihertz Luna has an impressive 1080p resolution with punch hole 32MP selfie camera on the left side, which is a more popular design than the classic notch camera design. The mono speaker, which is bottom-facing, delivers fantastic sound with loud volume and makes for an overall enjoyable experience.

The USB-C charging port of Unihertz Luna is placed at the bottom, alongside the microphone for calls, and there is a secondary microphone that helps in filtering background noise, which is positioned on the top near the 3.5mm audio port. Unfortunately, there is no IR blaster available on this device.

When it comes to cameras, the Luna phone comes with a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies and three rear cameras, including a 108MP primary lens, a 20MP infrared camera for night recording, and a 2MP macro camera.

The Luna phone can achieve a digital zoom range of 7x with the primary camera and 4x with the infrared camera, making its zoom performance better than that of the Jelly 2E smartphone. You can watch the embedded video to see the camera performance tests. Timelapse is not supported in night-vision mode.

The coolest feature of the Luna phone is, no doubt, its RGB lighting, which can be personalized according to your liking, and it even has a sound reactive RGB effect that matches the audio being played.

The Luna phone's microphone quality is loud and clear with noise filtration for crystal-clear calls. With 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage, and a powerful MediaTek MT6789 Octa Core 2.2GHz CPU, Luna allows you to multitask efficiently, run heavy applications, edit videos, browse the web, and game without any lag. Its performance is comparable to the Apple A11 Bionic and even better when using only one core, with the performance closer to the Intel Celeron N5105 chipset. The 8GB RAM in the Unihertz Luna makes it future-proof for years to come.
