Pitaka Pixel Fold MagEZ Case 3 Review

Thursday, July 20, 2023

Well, I reckon you just got yourself a shiny $1800 phone, and now you're trying to put a cheap case on it? Now, that don't make much sense to me, but let's take a closer look at this Pitaka MagEZ Case 3 for Google Pixel Fold and see if it's worth protecting that expensive gadget of yours.
First off, let me tell ya, this case comes packed all nice and fancy-like in a gift-like box. The Pitaka Pixel Fold case is designed in two halves, fit for the Pixel Fold. The top halve has an adhesive strip that helps clip it securely onto the front of the Pixel Fold, while the bottom halve clips onto the backside. It's like putting a hat on your phone and a pair of shoes on its backside - keeps things snug, I tell ya.

Now, what's the good stuff about this case? Well, it's the thinnest and lightest case you can find for that Pixel Fold, and it's got some magnets, you hear that right? MagSafe magnets right in there! Not only that, but it's got a 3D Grip textured design, so you won't be dropping it like a slippery fish. And all things said, that Unique Fusion Weaving design gives it a classy touch.

Pros, we got plenty of 'em! You can choose between two variants, the 600D black/grey twill, 600D Overture or the 600D Rhapsody - fancy words, ain't they? But it's got more than just fancy looks. The case protects your rear camera bump, and you can still use a screen protector if you fancy. Mic, earpiece, speaker, and charging port all got their own cutouts - ain't that handy?

The whole thing is slim, so it won't feel bulky in your pocket. Comes in a premium presentation box, like a gift from royalty. The aramid fiber construction gives it some grip, and you can still charge it wirelessly, no fuss. And here's the kicker, it won't collect lint like those silicone cases, and it's a friend of those MagSafe chargers and accessories. And it's got some screen lip protection too - wouldn't want to scratch that precious screen.

Now, it ain't all roses and sunshine, we got some cons too. The power button and volume rocker are exposed, so you gotta be careful with those. And, well, it's a bit pricey, can't sugarcoat that. No hinge protection, no anchor point for lanyard and no kickstand for those lazy moments.

But let me tell ya, this case may be slim, but it's strong as a bull! Made from Military-grade Aramid Fiber, which is thinner than a hair, but tougher than steel - impressive stuff, ain't it? And don't worry 'bout those scratches; it's got a special coating to keep that Pixel Fold looking new.

And let's talk compatibility. It's got built-in magnets to work with MagSafe accessories, and it plays nice with other Pitaka MagEZ 2.0 stuff like the Car Mount Pro/Lite, Slider 2, Grip, and Card Sleeve. All that in less than a millimeter thick and only 21.5 grams heavy!

Now, about that Pixel Fold - oh boy, Google's really got something going on here. Unlike them other folding phones, this one's sensible, no doubt about it. It unfolds into a wide-screen rectangle, and that outer screen is actually pretty useful. More often than not, you'll be using that outer screen for your quick tasks, and it feels just right in your hand. It's a bit thick, sure, but it's one good-looking device with a premium feel. The software is a breeze, no mess like them other phones, and it's a pleasure to use. .

Now, the question remains, is it worth the dough? Well, that's for you to decide, but if you want something sleek and gorgeously designed, and you're willing to pay for it, then you might just fall in love with the Pixel Fold. It's got its pros and cons, but there's something mighty compelling about it. It ain't the most sensible buy, but it might just be the delight you're looking for.
